About
Quince Tree Cottage is one of a pair of 18th Century cottages, situated on a side lane in a small village of Alvediston in The Chalke Valley which runs SW from Salisbury towards Shaftesbury. The land surrounding the village is almost all pastural fields, divided by a winterbourne stream and lightly wooded. There are many tracks and byways leading up to an old drovers road on the calk ridgeway to the south and to the old carriage route on the ridgeway to the North. The cottage is set in the middle of these chalk hills therefore has wonderful walks from the door.
The nearby village of Tisbury with many good shops and a railway station (London Waterloo - 1 hour 45 minutes) is 4 miles away and the well known hilltop town of Shaftesbury is 8 miles away. We are very well situated for visits to the historic city of Salisbury, ancient town of Wilton and the world heritage sites of Stonehenge and the city of Bath with its Roman baths and spa. The coast of Dorset is about an hours drive.
